2019 Season Starts with Woods winning a crazy race

The 2019 RMLSA POWRI Lightning Sprint season started off with 17 cars showing up at El Paso County Raceway for a wingless night on the 1/4 mile clay. 2 heat races were run with the #24B Johnny Boos and the #1 Troy Ullery taking the wins. 14 cars started the feature on a rough slick track. Lap two saw the #56 Jason Wessling car wheel hop the #82, sending him for a ride in turn one. The #75 Junior Thompson flipped avoiding the flipped #56. Both drivers were OK. The restart saw the #61B driven by Lance Bennett taking the lead followed by the #24 of Johnny Boos. The #61B got sideways and collected the #24B sending him flipping as well . Both drivers were OK. Troy Ullery in the #1 took the lead for several laps until the #82 Jason Woods slipped under him in turn two taking the lead. Woods, Ullery and #39X Dakota Dillin stayed top three for quite a while until the #86 driven by Jenn Woods passed the #39X taking over the 3rd spot. In the End the #82 Jason Woods takes the win, followed by #1 Troy Ullery in second and #86 Jenn Woods (wife of Jason Woods) rounded out the podium. #39X Dillin was 4th, #75 Junior Thompson was 5th, #3J Joel Mellon 6th, #61 Jesse Fernandez was 7th, #0 BJ Sauer was 8th, #7 Josh Flood was 9th, #24B Johnny Boos was 10th, #61X Chris Crowder was 11th, #31 Steve Becker was 12th, #56 Jason Wessling was 13th . #61B was DQ'd for leaving his car while on the track. The #32, #33 and #9 Did not start the feature due to mechanical problems.

Jason Wessling wins his first Feature at I-76

Jason Wessling won his first RMLSA Lightning Sprint Feature Race on a cold night and a very dry slick race track at I-76 Speedway in Fort Morgan on Saturday night. Starting in the 4th position, Wessling took the lead early and never looked back. Finishing 2nd was the #86 Rookie Jenn Woods with young Dakota Dillin rounding out the podium. Steve Becker and Johnny Boos rounded out the top 5. It was a crash filled race with many cars leaving the track on the back of the tow truck. Last race of 2018 is wingless at El Paso County Raceway on October 20th.
