20 Non Winged Lightning Sprint teams made the first trip to I76 Speedway for this season. A beautiful evening and the best track we have seen so far in 2017 made for some great non Wing racing. Heat races were won by #61 Jesse Fernandez, #2 Blaine Schubarth and #5 Brandon Steele. The feature was an exciting one with several mishaps. When the dust cleared the #2 Schubarth Hyper was the winner from the 11th starting spot. Following him to the checkers was the #25 Mike Rotramel and the #24B of Johnny Boos. the top five included the #71 of Frank Martinez and teh #0 of BJ Sauer. The rest of the field was rounded out by the #31 Steve Becker, #7 Josh Flood, #23 Cullen Potoker, #56 jason Wessling, #13 Josiah King, #15E Rookie Danny Estep, #1 Troy Ullery, #60 Gary Helken, #17 Dave McCray, #61 Jesse fernandez, #1CO Rookie Haley Waterland, #2Z John Frasier, #5 Brando Steele, #8 Rookie Vicky Mills, and #3 Rick Marchbank. The first non wing race of the year was a tough one. A rough track combined with no wings made for a challenge for all strapped in. the #25 of Michael Rotramel led all 20 laps in a great race that challenged every driver. #61 Jesse Fernandez finished close in the runner up spot, followed by the #31 Steve Becker. Completing the top 5 was #23 Cullen Potoker and #0 BJ Sauer. The balance of the field was #01 Troy Ullery, #9F andy Flood, #2 Blaine Schubarth, #15E Rookie Danny Estep, #56 Jason Wessling, #7 Josh Flood, #8 Rookie Vicki Mills, #9 Ryan Riggs, #61X Matt Martinez, #10 Ken Brown, #3 Rick marchbank, #24B Jonny Boos, #71 frank Martinez, #60 Gary Helken, #10X Tony Pierce Jr, #2Z John Frasier. 3J Joel Mellon Did not start. Heats were won by #71 Frank Martinez, #24B Johnny Boos, and #0 BJ Sauer.

Race night #5 for 2017 saw 24 cars invade El paso County Raceway. A warm day led to a hot night of racing. Heat races were won by #23 Cullen Potoker, #31 Steve Becker and #61 Jesse Fernandez. The feature saw the #23 of Potoker take the lead for the first half of the feature. The #17C of Dave McCray took over the lead and never looked back. Behind them the #23 of Potoker, the #20 Of Dale Johnston, the #61 of Jesse Fernandez , and the #0 of BJ Sauer battled till the end, with the #20 of Johnston finishing second, followed by the #61 of Fernandez.
